TRANSPORTATION:

Public Transport in Town:

Prague’s public transportation system, known as Prague Integrated Transport (PID), is highly efficient and well-connected. It includes metro, trams, buses, funicular, and ferryboats. You can use your contactless bank card to travel on all PID services without any extra costs, as the system automatically calculates the cheapest fare for your journey.

By Train:

The main railway station for the city is the historic Praha hlavní nádraží (Prague Main Station), located in the city center. This is the departure point for most services, including trains to Berlin, Munich, Vienna, and Budapest. Prague has an excellent range of national and international rail links, with direct daytime trains to major cities across Europe.

By Plane:

Václav Havel Airport Prague is the main international airport serving the city. The Airport Express bus runs every 30 minutes, connecting the airport to Prague Main Station, making it easy to reach the city centre. You may find below a step-by-step guide on how to get to the Prague Congress Center by taking the Airport Express:

How to take the Airport Express Bus (AE)

Important tips:

  • During peak hours this is the fastest, cheapest and most convenient option.
  • You need to purchase your AE ticket from the driver directly.

Step 1: Departure from Václav Havel Airport

The AE bus departs from Terminal 1 in front of Entrance G. This is only a few steps away from Terminal 2 for people travelling from within the Schengen zone.

Step 2: Check the schedule

The AE bus runs daily at 30-minute intervals. Travel time is 30 – 40 minutes, depending on traffic.

  • From the airport to the city: 6:30 AM to 10:00 PM.

  • Where to buy: Directly from the bus driver (cash or card). Not from the machines
  • Important: Regular Prague public transport tickets cannot be used on the AE bus.

Step 4: Board the Airport Express bus

AE buses are low-floor vehicles with ample luggage space, making boarding easy even with suitcases.

Step 5: Arrive at Prague Central Station

  • The bus stops at Wilsonova Street, right in front of the Fanta Building.
  • Inside Prague Central Station, follow signs for Metro Line C (Red).

Step 6: Buy your Metro ticket
